Starter Courses

Left school and don't know what to do next? Is your confidence stopping you getting the job or training you need? Do you need to improve your skills and/or qualifications before you can start training in the career you want? With a bit of help from Protocol Skills you could be on your way to earning a real wage. All you have to do is take one of our short courses.

Entry to Employment (England)

If you are aged 16-18, live in England and are not participating in any form of post-16 learning, you can undertake an e2e course. The aim of the e2e programme is to progress to an Apprenticeship, further learning or a job. Your learning will focus on three core areas: basic and key skills, vocational development, and personal and social development.

The e2e programme is focused on the needs of each individual so the time to complete training will vary from person to person. To read more information on e2e, view our e2e brochure.

Get Ready for Work (Scotland)

Get Ready for Work (GRFW) helps young people identify their individual needs and offers training to develop a number of skills. For instance, a learner might receive help with interview techniques or advice on how to write a great CV, the support offered might include communication and computer skills or building self-confidence to help in applying for jobs.

Young people taking part in the programme will get the chance to try out "work tasters" and work placements - helping them decide on the job that's right for them! Learners will also receive a training allowance and help with travel expenses.

Skill Build (Wales)

The Skill Build programme is available in Wales and is ideal for young people who have left school but are still unsure about what they want to do. Working in partnership with local businesses, Skill Build allows learners to complete "taster" placements to gain valuable insight into the world of work whilst learning new skills. It is anticipated this will lead to the oppotunity for young people to complete a vocational qualification.
